4 Days Akagera Safari and Wildlife Experience

During your 4 days Akagera Safari and Wildlife experience you will have a chance to watch live different animals for instance bush bucks, elephants, hippos baboon, Impalas, crocodiles warthogs, Zebras, monkeys, Mongoose, etc. 

Day 1:  Arrival at Kigali International Airport and transfer to your Hotel

When you arrive at the Kigali International Airport (KIA), you will be met and picked by an experienced and welcoming driver guide fully dressed in Mahali Africa attire. The driver guide will take you through Kigali’s beautiful scenery as you proceed to your hotel. The maximum journey time from the airport is 30 Minutes to your booked hotel within the capital Kigali.

Day 2: Safe Safari drive to Akagera National Park 

Our driver guide will pick you from your hotel as you proceed to Akagera National Park located in the Eastern part of Rwanda. Akagera National Park is home to elephant, zebra, waterbuck buffalo, topi, roan antelope and eland, duiker, oribi, bohor reedbuck, impala, klipspringer, bushbuck, among others. Dinner and overnight at Akagera National Park Lodges. 

Day 3: Safari Game Drive through Akagera National Park

The game drive starts at 7:00 am after early breakfast. You will be exposed to a wide range of wildlife from the comfort of your safari car including buffalos elephants, gazelles lions, giraffes, impalas, baboons, bushbucks warthogs, topi, oribis, leopards, among others. After the game drive, you will be driven to the lodge for a lunch and other refreshments. 

After lunch, you will go for boat trips on Lake Ihema. The lake lies within the marshland of the Kagera River in which it empties via a very short channel. With an area of 100 km2 (40 sq mi), it is the largest lake entirely in Rwanda. The lake is rich in biodiversity, except fish. It is home to hippopotamuses and crocodiles. It has 550 species of birds, including remarkable species such as the shoebill (Balaeniceps rex) and the papyrus gonolek (Laniarius mufumbiri). Among the endemic species, there are ibises, jacanas, herons, plovers, sandpipers, malachite kingfishers, hawks and many others. Boat trips along the shores of Lake Ihema, yield some great aquatic bird sightings, a single nicest way to explore the park and you can also spot some of the wildlife which do live in the waters of Ihema lake. This will give you a great experience and increase on your animal counts you observed during the safari game drive. After the exciting boat trip, you overnight and dine at the lodge.

Day 4: Akagera Game Drive and Exit

After breakfast early morning, you will check out and start your second game drive by 7:00am in the morning. You will experience a long but worthwhile safari drive where you start at the park’s main gate, and spend the day making your way to the park’s northern Nyungwe. You can also look for hyenas, leopards, topis, elands, Eastern Black Rhinos, elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes, and Lions.

After the game drive, you will be dropped at your hotel in Kigali or at the Kigali International Airport where you will be able to catch your next international flight back home.
