5 Days Nyungwe Experience and Chimpanzee Trekking

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport (KIA)

When you arrive at the Kigali International Airport (KIA), you will be met and picked by an experienced and welcoming driver guide fully dressed in Mahali Africa attire. The driver guide will take you through Kigali’s beautiful scenery as you proceed to your hotel. The maximum journey time from the airport is 30 Minutes to your booked hotel within the capital Kigali.

Day 2: Nyungwe Experience and Waterfall Hike

Nyungwe rain-forest national park is located in the Southwestern region of Rwanda. The park holds the source of Africa’s great rivers, feeding the Nile in the east and Congo River in the west. It is a home to habituated chimpanzees, other primate species, birds with over 300 species and over 1000 plant types.

After breakfast at your hotel, our driver guide will pick you from the hotel at 7am for your journey to Nyungwe forest park for waterfall hiking experience. Nyungwe’s biggest waterfall is situated at roughly 17 m in height. You will stay at Kivu Marina Bay Hotel. 

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking Experience 

After breakfast, you will start your day hiking through Nyungwe forest and spend time with the chimpanzees playfully staring at each other in the close proximity. Accommodation and meals will be at Kivu Marina Bay Hotel. 

Day 4: Bigugu Trail Experience

After breakfast in the morning, you will be driven to the park and received for briefing. You will setoff 6 hours hiking experience of Bigugu Trail. Through the process, you will land at the highest peak of Nyungwe forest where you will come into direct eye contact with Lake Kivu and beautiful sceneries of the neighbouring DRC. 

Day 5: Canopy Walk and end of Nyungwe experience

After breakfast, you will be picked by our driver guide and head to Uwinka for canopy walk experience, you’ll cross massive swinging bridges in the tree’s wild canopy, count the colors of orchids, listen for monkey calls, spot incredible flora and fauna, and more. After the experience you’ll be transferred back to Kigali to catch your next flight back home.
